After I greased my control arm bushings with my new "special" grease for poly bushings, I wanted to take it out for a test drive to see if it worked. I was by myself as Jeff was in the valley. I went down to the sewage lagoon, took that dirt road that goes in behind there. That had lots of potholes so I figured that would be a good one for the test. Then I took a trail that went to the right, and came out behind the junkyard. There was quite a mudhole back there with lots of deep tire ruts.
There was one ledge that dipped into a hole, and I just stuck my nose in there to see how soft it was. It had a hard bottom, so I kept on going. No problem. But then I got into the big hole with the deep ruts. Very soft, and I tried to straddle the ruts. Made it a little ways but then fell in. Couldn't move forward. Tried to back up, no go. Uh oh. Started to look around for something to winch to. There were lots of trees and stuff, but I thought I'd try some throttle to see if the tires would dig me out.
It worked! I didn't go crazy either...just spun the tires enough to clear the treads and throw some mud and she gripped, started moving and got me out of there. Phew!! I almost had to get my winch rope dirty. lol
The KM2's are awesome.
The bushings were still squeaky.
But after our run on the Donkey yesterday the bushings seemed to have gotten quieter. Maybe the grease is working its way in, or maybe just the mud and water quieted them up. Time will tell.
