another winch

I bought a used winch for my bronco but i didn't want a big a$$ winch bumper hanging off the front just yet ,so this is what i fabbed up .

these had to go



and this


some new brackets to attach to the frame out of 1/4" plate










test fit




welded the new brackets to the winch plate that came with the winch,welded all around the outside with two 1/2 " holes drilled and plug welded in the center




the fairlead was bent up a lot so i had another bigger one and changed it.


bolted up with 3 1/2" grade 8 bolts per side


next was to cut the bumper up


and the top to get at the free spool leaver


bumper bolted back on




I put some rubber pipeing around the cut part of the bumper to cover sharp edges and wired it up


I also changed the regular hook to this type with a swivel that i got when i bought a broken winch with new line and hooks with it, complete winch with a new cable ,remote ,selinoids ,wireing for 50 bucks .


And i have not had a chance to use it yet ! But i will soon (on purpose) The winch is a 9000lb Tabor

That's nice. What did you use to weld it, a stick or fluxcore? It looks like a nice job.

I'd rip off the two pieces of plastic you left under the bumper just for cleaner looks. It would make it look taller too. ;D

I welded it with .30 flux , i left the plastic on the bottom for D.O.T .
It keeps it at the legal bottom bumper height ,it was in the center too until i tore it off .

My front tow hooks are bolted threw the winch plate and frame on the bottom also with two grade 8- 2 1/2"x 1/2" bolts.

Thanks ,i hope to do a battery upgrade before i need to use it too much but funds are being diverted to some tires .
