The board defaults to no pop-ups or emails to alert you that you have a private message waiting, so you have to look at the top right corner of the board to see if you have a message. If you wish to change this setting so you receive a message-waiting pop-up or email (or both), do the following:
1. Click on the messages link to go into your private messages.
2. On the menu bar for your Inbox, click the "preferences" link.
3. There you will see the options about notifications. Choose whichever options you prefer.
