I had some time to work on Nicks rack for the xj today . Had this done before x-mas   Sized for a 33/12.5/15 Today i started the side bars ,4 bars on the passenger side and 2 bars in the back . 2 bars on the driver's side for jack mounting and none in the front to leave room for lights  total height is 7" so the tire fits down in the basket nicely .  2 cross bars on the bottom just outside a 15" rim size so when the tire is strapped down it's on the rubber and not the rim  Nick will probably invest in a high-lift so i made some mounts for it now . Drilled 1/2" holes threw the tube for a 1/2" rod welded on both sides of the tube with Teflon locking nuts.   Test fit with my jack to check for "creepy" level  another hour or so i should have the rack done but i need a couple measurements from nick ....or do i ... neighbor has an xj guinea pig

hahah all the pipe was free ,we are doing a reno and this was pipe taken from the hot water heating system. This pipe is 1.25 and i got around 60-70'also scored about 20'of 1.50 and about 40-50' of 2.50
the 2 smaller pipe is around 1/8 wall and the bigger one is 1/4
I gave the 1.50 stuff away to a friend for tube fender's already .

thanks a bit more done this morning until the rain started :X Front basket for putting small stuff like a cooler /tool box or parts ...whatever you need.     geeze , i counted 263 spot welds for this and i'm sure i missed a few . Mesh is 1" squares. |
