Does no one ice fish for rainbow's?
There are a couple lakes down this way that have Rainbow trout and can be fished most of the winter threw the ice. My next door neighbor has been on a fishing kick the last couple years and has gotten some nice ones threw the ice.

People fish for Rainbows at Angevine Lake (near Wentworth). Jeff's been wanting to go but I'd get too cold sitting there not moving. I was getting cold bass fishing in the middle of summer!

Yeah I can't wait to go fishing in the spring back to the Southampton River. It's my turn to catch a big one there. Jeff kept catching the gooders and all I caught were the little wee ones. lol

I would prolly head out and give it a shot but when I moved here from Ontario I gave my ice fishing auger and gear to a buddy when I left because there was NO ice fishing in NS at the time except for smelt fishing which doesn't excite me...lol...but about 5 years ago they opened a few rainbow lakes but now I don't have an auger I used to drive my old XJ out on the ice back home and spend a whole day on the ice in -35 and never got cold catching BIG Pike, Musky and Walleye and then Spring and Fall my time was spent on the shores of Lake Ontario and it's tributaries catching real Rainbow's up to 20 LBS...I miss my Steelheading I was invited by my buddies back in the Valley to go ice fishing for Pickerel this weekend...that would have been fun...they are prolly having a great supper and drinks as I type this Jeff

Has anyone been out yet ? My neighbour has been out a few times and caught some stocked rainbows 14-18-19- 22.5 inches .
Nice trout but standing elbow to elbow with 75-80 other people isn't my bag of cookies ,i would rather walk 5 miles in the woods and be alone catching real trout!

We only tried once on the Southampton on opening day but it might have been too early; never got a bite. My neighbor's grandson has been catching lots of Brookies at a spot close to here that we will probably be trying soon. Time to start Striped Bass fishing too! I don't like fishing in crowds either. Shad fishing in the valley was like that as well sometimes. Cindy
